Last Wednesday our tennis team had a home match against Charlotte. I played a girl named Brooke and we started warming up and I realized that we were about the same skill level so it would be a tough match. The first set did start off very close and every point was a long rally that was very exhausting. We were tied 5-5 and and then I went up 6-5. She served the next game and ended up forcing a tiebreaker. Our tiebreaker was very close, going back and forth, but she ended up taking the first set with a tiebreaker score of 5-7. I was determined not to get beat in two sets so I set the tone right away and won the second set 6-2. Since it was not a league match, our third set was a super tiebreaker. I was still excited from the second set so I won the tiebreaker 10-5. It was my first very close match of the season and it was huge for me because I proved that I could come back and win. The team also had the same success; we won 7-1.

On Friday we traveled to Williamston for our first league match. I played a freshman that expected to beat me; I could tell she underestimated me while we were warming up. I started the match with my guns firing and I took the first two games. She had a powerful first serve but it went into the net a lot; she also hit every ball to the baseline but was not very consistent. I won the first set 6-1 and was ready to finish the match in the next set. I felt bad for her because she kept looking at parents and I assumed that they put a lot of pressure on her. I did finish the match in the second set with a score of 6-2. Our team didn’t start off league play very well, losing with a score of 3-5. We play at home against Lakewood tonight and hope to get a hard fought win.
