A Little Taste of Summer

As we hit spring, we expect rain, floods, and thunderstorms, but when does it hit 82 degrees in the middle of March?  Well that’s Michigan.   In the last few weeks we have hit record highs every day, making Michigan one of the hottest states.  Students are enjoying this weather. They normally should be preparing for spring by planning their future and maybe a little spring cleaning. However, this hot weather may be knocking people’s schedules out of order, and making them feel like it’s already summer.  News flash: it’s not summer yet and with Michigan’s weather, it may be snowing next week.

Teenagers love summer. They love going to the beach, park, and bonfires, but what do they do when the beach is not open?  Well, Sabrina Hull, a junior at Ionia High School was more than willing to answer this question.  “I’ve been going on a bunch of walks and just lying outside.”  Many students can relate.  What she likes most about the weather is that she can actually enjoy going outside and not be stuck in the house all day.  As many students may know, getting outside can be quite refreshing from being in the house all winter.

Weather like this can trigger the brain to start wanting to do the things they would normally do in the summer.  Teenagers pick up bad habits quick and with this sudden weather change it is already making Sabrina’s daily schedule chaos.  “I’ve been eating way less and sleeping way less. I stay up really late now.”  School is still in progress and staying up late can interfere with your studies.

Overall the last few weeks have been wonderful.  ”I wouldn’t change anything; I love the weather right now. It’s the best weather we have ever had.”  Many students can agree.  Hopefully the weather continues to stay nice, and teenagers don’t get too far off track because it’s not summer yet and in Michigan it will rain in April.  Don’t worry though; summer is on its way.
